Shopping Graphic #12

I notice that food prices has increased rapidly month to month and with the coming of Eid another increase is inevitable. Are we heading for a global recession. U.S. economic recovery has slowed down and Europe is facing major debt crisis. Japan is already in recession after the unfortunate mega disaster.

China could be duplicating the Dubai real-estate bubble. Apparently a few Business Rating Services have reported the existent of massive problematic loans and that non-performing loans could be as high as 30 per cent of the loan portfolio. If I recall correctly the root cause of the recession in the 90's in some parts of Asia,Malaysia included ,was the massive non-performing loans. The situation after the Arab Spring is no better with unemployment and the inflation of food prices remain the same.

By the way I heard that the price of banana in Australia is AUD12.This is due to shortage after the cyclone hit Tully and Innisfail, which supply more than three-quarters of Australia's bananas. That is very expensive.

Till we meet again, have a peaceful and productive week ahead.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan
