Black Glutinous Rice Sweet Porridge

Photobucket

In this outing I am serving you a humble sweet porridge called Bubur Pulut Hitam (Black Glutinous Rice Sweet Porridge). This sweet porridge is ideal for afternoon tea as well as for Iftar (breaking of fast). There's two type of glutinous rice. The white ones is sticky and widely used. The black ones are less sticky and so is used to make porridge or mixed with the white to make lemang i.e rice cook in bamboo.

Enjoy the video.

Here's the recipe.
Black Glutinous Rice Sweet Porridge(Bubur Pulut Hitam)
Ingredients:

2 cups black glutinous rice (soak in water for 2 hrs.)
1 pandan leaf ( for the glutinous rice)

Syrup:
1 cup white sugar (add more according to taste if you prefer sweeter)
5 pieces palm sugar (substitute with 2 cups brown sugar if palm sugar is unavailable)

  7. I believe we have something that looks similar back home. We call the porridge "champorado." Instead of syrup and pandan, we melt cacao and mix it in the rice.
